The Sheridan Arts Foundation was founded in 1991 as a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization to:

  1. Restore and preserve the historic Sheridan Opera House as an arts and cultural resource for the Telluride community
  2. Bring quality arts and cultural events to Telluride
  3. Provide local and national youth with access and exposure to the arts through education
We are deeply grateful for any contribution to further support our initiatives.

Ongoing Historical Renovation

Over the past two decades, SAF has fundraised and spent more than $2.2 million to restore and rehabilitate the historic Sheridan Opera House. Support our continuous and ongoing efforts to care for this 107-year-old landmark. We hope to have this beautiful building around for centuries to come.

Young People’s Theater

Support our non-competitive children’s theater program! Children are never turned away because of cost. Donations to our YPT fund will go toward our scholarship fund which awards over $7,000 each year and has awarded over $152,000 since the program’s inception.

Theater Seat Sponsorship

For a $1,000 donation, we will install a golden plaque that will adorn one of our famous theater seats for the next ten years. Once your donation has been processed, our box office manager will reach out to you and confirm the plaque’s inscription and seat number. You can sponsor one or multiple seats, so treat your family to ten years of your own piece of history in the Sheridan Opera House.

Wild West Fest Child Sponsorship

Since 1991, SAF has raised more than $40,000 each year to bring 30-50 underserved youth from Boys & Girls Clubs from around the country to Telluride for a week of nurturing, child-centered mentorship programs and cultural experiences as a part of the Chip Allen Mentorship Program (C.A.M.P). Our goal is to provide an esteem-building experience for each child that allows them to challenge themselves in a supportive and non-competitive environment. $1,000 covers the cost of one child, but any amount is appreciated!
